The UK Windsurfing Association acts as an organiser and coordinator of race events for all windsurfing classes. It participates in the organisation of regional, national and international racing and training events on all levels from first-time to seasoned competitor. The association works closely with the TCA to help promote course racing for junior and youth sailors in the Open, Techno and RS:X classes.
Here is an extract of the chairman’s view (Bob Ingram):
“There are few sports that allow the opportunity for all to compete against National, European, World and Olympic Champions. We cover all disciplines, Slalom, Wave, Freestyle, Speed and Course Racing and provide a voluntary team of skilled Administrators, Race Officials and Safety Crews dedicated to the sport of windsurfing. Our greatest asset, however, are the members: friendly, helpful and perhaps competitive, but always with time to advise and welcome newcomers. Many sailors begin their windsurfing journey at the local club, the local beach or by taking advantage of one of the many RYA or Class Training Schemes. Once competent, the choices are numerous but the home of windsurfing is always with the UKWA.”
